Growing in learning, growing in character, growing community.

Dear Parents, Grandparents and Carers

What a welcome return to the wet and windy weather that is more usual for March...

With our Year 5 and 6 pupils having a fantastic adventure at Woodlands in Wales, canoeing, mountain trekking and caving, it is a little quiet around school this week. The Year 4 children have very much enjoyed being the oldest pupils in school it is already apparent that they will make a super set of Year 6s in due course.

Parents' evenings for children from Year 1 to Year 6 will be held in the week beginning 19th March, with sign-up sheets available in the Learning Power Base as usual from 3.15pm on Friday 9th March.

Best wishes,

Jane Paterson and the staff team

An interesting and important message from FOLS

Non-school uniform day with a difference! 14th March

We are trialling a new idea. Instead of the typical non-school uniform days, we will be holding a 'Mix-it Up' day. The idea is the children have a bit of fun (as well as raise money for the school), as well as linking it to the values we want to develop in the children. The 'Odd Socks' day was very successful in consolidating the anti-bullying message of 'all different, all equal' and 'Mix-it Up' day will reinforce this message further.

So, 'Mix-it Up' day will look like this:

• You can wear your school uniform or PE kit in any way you wish (no non-school clothes allowed, so creativity is the name of the game): inside out, back to front, a mixture of uniform and PE kit, odd socks, odd shoes, and so on.

• For those children who don't enjoy changing their daily routine, they can dress normally or as differently as they like.

Why are we having a 'Mix-it Up' day?

• The money raised will be used towards various projects, such as improving the field at the back of the school, making it safer, more fun for the children, and usable all year round. This is a big project, and more information will be available in the coming weeks and at the EGM on 27th March. We will advertise how much we have raised from 'Mix-it Up' day when the total is in!

• Everyone can participate, just by coming to school.

• In terms of donations, please give what you want and can afford, be it 1 penny or £10 - all contributions are welcome. There will be a small brown envelope in the children's book bags for any donations please mark for the attention of FOLS.

Thank you for your continued support of the children and the school.

Please find below links to this week's letters and some updates and reminders. All of these letters are on the school website under recent letters.

Kind Regards

Important updates and reminders

I understand there is a little confusion over the introduction of the new website and school app along with Tucasi please see below a quick reference guide to help.

Tucasi - This is the online cashless system for all payments to school including Sports Clubs, After School Care, Breakfast Club and School Trips. Please email the school office if you need a reminder of your log in details or need help to set this up.

School Website - We have recently got a new school website this is a publically available website like all school websites. However there are additional pages that are visible only if you log in and create a parent account. Please email the school office if you need a reminder of your log in details or need help to set this up.

School Life App - This is an app which can be downloaded for free which will give you access to the school website on a smart phone or tablet. The log in details for the app are the same as the school website; once you have downloaded the app if you log in with the parent account you have created you will receive notifications through the app when new information is added to the website, for example the weekly communication.

Fresh Start Meal Manager - This is the site you need to access to order School Meals and every child has their own log in. School meals need to be ordered by the Tuesday of the week before the meals are required.
