Message from Ms Walker
As we begin the new term, I would like to thank parents, carers, children and staff for the very warm welcome I have received. Over the coming weeks, I am looking forward to getting to know our school community and working together to further strengthen the foundations already in place, ensuring every child is supported to do their very best. I will be spending time getting to know the children and staff, celebrating what Launton does well and considering where we might make changes to improve things even further. I am also keen to hear your views, so please do feel free to share your ideas about what you feel works well and what could be developed (office.3085@launton.oxon.sch.uk or catch me on the playground in the morning or after school).
Easter Egg Hunt
The spring term concluded with a wonderful Easter Egg Hunt, held on the Sunday before the final week of term, bringing together school families as well as those from the wider village community. I was fortunate to be invited to attend this special event before formally starting as Headteacher at Launton, and I was truly impressed by the warmth, organisation, and sense of community on display. It was a joyful occasion enjoyed by all.
A sincere thank you goes to the fantastic team who worked so hard to organise the many elements that made this event such a success.
Beech Class
Beech Class have been sowing fruit and vegetable seeds. Most of them have germinated so we will have lots of plants for a plant sale in a few weeks’ time. More information to follow. Keep your eyes peeled for posters which will be appearing around the school very soon!
Oxford Health
Oxford Health's Smile 360 team are currently planning a survey running from April to July. They would like to invite parents and carers to answer a short set of questions about their children’s oral health. The findings will help them better understand local needs and target their approach more effectively.
Updates & Reminders
Safety
The playground gates are opened at 3.10pm to allow parents and carers to collect children more easily than from the car park. If you have a small child with you, they must not climb on school equipment. The trim trail looks superficially like climbing equipment found in some public play areas but it has been designed to be safely used under teacher supervision only and by older pupils.
The Parish Hall car park and surrounding area present significant challenges. Please do not park on the corner, obscuring the view round the bend, as this is dangerous: this is not a safe space to leave a vehicle. Please supervise young children closely in this area.
Just a reminder we have children in school with serious allergies please do not send your child in with items containing nuts, this includes chocolate spread, peanut butter and products containing a chocolate filling like Nutella or chocolate bars containing nuts. We have had a few occasions recently where we have found items have been sent into school in packed lunches which contain nuts.
