Sports day report by Chestnut Class
On Friday 20th June, we held our annual sports day for both KS1 and KS2 children. An amber weather warning was alerted for hot weather, so the decision was made to bring forward the KS2 events into the morning. With help from the parents, we managed to get all the shelters and races set up in time for a 9am start. This year, the races remained the same with KS1 having a choice of a shopping list race and KS2 children having a waiter race. The medals were awarded to the winners by Mrs Heath and Mrs Pickering. Ignite Sport helped to record house points. We would like to say a huge thank you to the Chestnut Class sport leaders who helped tremendously by setting up races, giving out stickers and helping to refill water bottles.
Ella G- “We all showed resilience in the weeks beforehand by practising the races so we could feel prepared and confident”.
Millie Ad- “The people who ran the long run showed courage for carrying on, despite the heat.”
Sebastian B- “The people that did the sprint needed courage to sprint 50 meters and give their best.”
Rupert, Noah H and Teddy- “The egg and spoon race was so unpredictable, you needed balance, speed and resilience to carry on.”
Erin- “In the waiter race you needed speed, balance and steady hands!”
We would like to say thank you to everyone who helped us set up the event and gave up their spare time to help and support us! Thank you
Football Report by Jack, Noah H and Sam
We qualified in the local schools’ football league so we progressed to the knock-out rounds.
A fortnight ago, we played Chesterton and beat them 3-0. At half time, it was 0-0 and everyone knew what we needed to do to forge ahead. With really good teamwork we were victorious.
Tomorrow, at 3.30pm we are playing the semi final against Marsh Gibbon who previously beat us 9-3. With a home advantage we think we may be able to turn the tables. Please come and support us on our school field in our campaign to reach the finals.
