Growing in learning, growing in character, growing community.

Dear Parents, Grandparents and Carers

The forecast remains much better for tomorrow than Friday, so we will press ahead with the Sports Relief Mile tomorrow. Children should bring wellies, trainers, or whatever footwear they intend to use, in a named carrier bag, or have alternative footwear to wear in school after the walk, in case of muddy conditions.

Parents logged in to the School Life app this morning received advance notice of the road closure between the church and the roundabout. This is a good way to find out accurate, rapid information; please email the office if you do not have your log in details and have not yet used it. We are advised by Thames Water that the closure is scheduled to finish on 26th March; we will advise you if we hear anything else.

Best wishes,

Jane Paterson and the staff team

Easter Egg Hunt news

We have amazing news. The village community (homes and businesses) has done it again, and donated 300 boxed eggs, as well as 900 small eggs. This means that the money taken on the day can all be put towards school projects. We will ensure that our thanks go out to them via the Launton Lines. Many thanks to those who have contributed their time to leaflet drops and egg collections, a well-coordinated event.

At this Saturday's egg hunt (2-4 p.m.), there will be refreshments, a cake sale, tombola, face painting, the Easter bonnet parade, and other activities. Our partners and friends from Playgroup are helping on the day and funds raised will go to school projects, Playgroup's activities will raise money for their good projects. Good luck hunting and enjoy the day with our magnificent bunch of parent volunteers. We know you will support them as you always do.

We have been advised today by the LPFA that there is an event at the Harrison on Saturday and therefore parking will be at a premium in the road and car park behind school. With this in mind, we suggest that you park in the village, being considerate to the residents. If you are able to walk to the hunt we suggest you do so. Thank you for your understanding.

Friends of Launton School's EGM

A reminder that the EGM is in the school hall at 7.30 p.m. next Tuesday 27th March

The agenda is to sign off the constitution and ratify the appointments to the new committee roles which should take a very short time. This governance is key to move us forward in obtaining charity registration. Most of the meeting will be an opportunity to find out about exciting school plans and how parents and friends can be involved in projects for the future.

As per the published process, applications for the key open positions of Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary positions have closed. As there is only one candidate per role there will be no need for a postal vote. The candidates have been nominated and seconded and these roles will be ratified at the EGM.
