Oak class website Term 5

In Geography, Oak class will be learning about the human and physical features of South America.

In History, Oak class will be learning about the Anglo-Saxons and Scots; pupils will be finding out what happened in Britain after the withdrawal of the Roman Army in 410CE.

In Maths we will learn about fractions, money, and time.  

In English this term we will base our writing on The Tear Thief by Carol-Ann Duffy and Flotsam by David Wiesner. We will read The Firework-Maker’s Daughter by Philip Pullman. Also, we will be learning further grammar rules.

In DT children will learn learn about electrical systems and to build simple circuits and and switches (including programming and control).

In Art, Year 3 will begin a printing unit. They will be learning about the work of Hokusai, particularly his series of prints of Mt Fuji.

In Science, pupils will be completing our unit of work on electricity and moving onto our next topic about plants.

P.E is on Mondays and Fridays. Cricket and OAA are our units this term.

In Computing our unit is micro:bit. Children will develop their use of some core computing concepts through coding and making practical projects through a sequence of six lessons.

In Religious Education, we are learning what is the Qur’an and why do many Muslims try to learn it by heart.

In French we will learn numbers and do some simple maths.

In PSHE our unit is:Being my Best.

In Music we are learning to sing Bringing Us Together – a disco song about friendship, peace, hope and unity.
