Pupil Leaders

At Launton Primary School, we actively promote pupils’ sense of citizenship and encourage them to make a positive contribution to both the school and the wider community. We provide a range of opportunities for children to take on responsibilities and develop leadership skills.

All pupils take part in our Buddy System, where they are paired with a child from a different year group. Older pupils support younger children, particularly during themed days and special activities, helping them feel safe, included, and supported.

Pupils also have the opportunity to volunteer for a variety of roles within the school, including becoming a Playground Leader. Playground Leaders are Year 5 pupils who help to lead fun, active games and physical activities for other children during lunchtimes. Volunteers receive training and work together in small groups to organise and run activities that encourage everyone to stay active and engaged.

At Launton Primary School, we believe that volunteering and taking on additional responsibilities helps children to build self-confidence and self-esteem, develop new skills, and learn the importance of responsibility. Most importantly, it gives them the chance to make a positive difference to their school and to their fellow pupils.
