Free School Meals

We are all aware that the current public health emergency is having a financial impact on many people.  For some, this may mean a drop in income through redundancy or lack of work which is not covered by other Government schemes such as furloughing.  This may also mean you have had to make a claim for benefits.  We want to make sure that everyone who is eligible to claim FSM is able to do so.

If you think that you may be eligible to apply for extra financial support in relation to free school meals, please read on; the Department for Education has sent useful information and I have printed it below. Whether your child eats hot lunches or not, and whichever year group they are in, we are able to check on your behalf whether they are entitled to free school meals.

Families who receive certain benefits may be eligible for free school meals.  Your child is eligible for free school meals if you’re in receipt of one of the following benefits:

  • Universal Credit with an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400.
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guarantee element of Pension Credit
  • Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for the four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
  • Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual income of no more than £16,190
  • To check if your child is eligible, we need information about you and your child. Please download the document below or contact the school office on office.3085@launton.oxon.sch.uk
