Learning together for life

Building on the success of World Book Day activities last year, we are planning a similar morning this year on 1st March with books, books and books being the focus. In school we will have a book-based theme morning with all the children engaged in exciting book- related workshops (in school uniform). We will be encouraging and celebrating creativity and ingenuity, so before World Book Day, each child will receive an egg to craft into a character from a book; I hope before half term to source polystyrene eggs to minimize the hydrogen sulphide smell that would otherwise fill the school from real eggs...

We will make an exhibition of the children's eggs in school so children should think about how they wish to transport and display their character, for example, in a customized cereal box or a shoe box: a book in a box...

The volcanoes are growing ever more impressive around school and the classrooms are filling with super art work. You are cordially invited to come and look when the children in all classes host Open Classrooms on the final Wednesday of this half term from 3pm. If parents of children in Chestnut Class and Willow Class are able to reach the hall at 2.55pm, they will just catch those children performing the dance that they have been working on in PE this term. On that day, children will be dismissed from their own classroom.

Oxford Brookes University are holding a free Science Bazaar on 24th February; the details are attached.

Reminder: if you wish your child to attend Breakfast Club or Afterschool Care, you should book this online through Tucasi twenty -four hours in advance; we cater and staff according to numbers of children booked in. If you have an unforeseen need for a place, please telephone the school office.

The cut-off date for ordering lunches for the first week back is TUESDAY 13TH FEBRUARY.

Best wishes,
