Dear Parents, Grandparents and Carers

The classrooms are already humming to the tune of Vikings and research about Toys... and I have had some intriguing conversations with children about their plans for World Book Day characters; we have some creative and industrious learners.

I am delighted to be able to advertise the cake sale that is being extremely well organised and co-ordinated by Katelyn, ably assisted by Freya, taking place in the hall on Friday after school. Money is being raised to support Alzheimers UK and the RSPCA. A poster for this is attached.

The theme in school throughout Lent is "doing something extra for others". You may be the fortunate recipient of this at home as children are working to do the helpful things that are asked of them (with a smile), notice and do helpful things for others (without being asked), and finally and most exacting: notice and do something kind or helpful for someone else without them even knowing who it was...

And on that subject, thank you to the two pupils in year 6 who wrote an extremely impressive letter to Blackwell's Bookshop to thank them for the donation of beautiful new books they sent to us, courtesy of the kindness of a generous bookworm.

FOLS is on the lookout for people who can help out on an ad hoc basis at the various fundraising events held throughout the school year. Your help and support is invaluable in making these events successful, so if you can help, we'd love to hear from you.

Oxford Brookes University are holding a free Science Bazaar on 24th February; the details are attached.
